    Site Preparation

If you're looking to install your shed with a floor kit, it is recommended to have 4-5" of crushed stone (no. 8 or no. 57) beneath the floor kit. Also, make sure that there is a 12" border around the outside of your shed. This extra space keeps the moisture away from your shed, and makes it easier to control the weeds. Simply dig out 4" of soil and level the stone out - you're good to go!

Have a cement slab, or looking to pour one? No problem. Simply make the slab 1/2" smaller than the shed, on both the width and length.

    Delivery

This shed ships via common carrier freight. Although a liftgate is unavailable due to the size of this kit, it can be unloaded by hand. The package will be opened up on the truck, and it's recommended to have 2-3 people there to unload all of the pieces. The pieces range in weight, but the heaviest is only 60lbs.

    Assembly

Panelized Kits are the way to go! This shed kit comes partially assembled. The walls are in assembled, panelized sections, and the rest of the items are precut and ready for assembly. It couldn't get any easier! Simply provide the shingles, drip edge, and paint. Not sure you're up for the challenge? No problem - any general contractor can get your shed up in no time.

Frequently Asked Questions on our Amish Sheds
Do I need a construction background?
Basic carpentry skills will make the job go easier, however our kits are designed to fit together easily and accurately and much of the prep work is done before it ever shows up. So it takes minimal skills to assemble the shed kit.

Do I need someone to help me build the shed?
We do recommend that two people work together. It will go more smoothly if you have a friend to help by holding the tape measure and handing you parts and tools, especially once on the roof. However the largest items are the kit are the 4 ft. wall sections, and they can easily be handled by 1 person.

Do I need to use a special paint on the Smartside siding?
The siding is shipped already primed and any exterior latex paint can be used.

Why aren’t shingles included in the kit?
Due to the weight of shingles, it is more cost-effective to have the customer purchase them locally instead of shipping them.

Why isn’t the floor included in the kit?
Not everyone wants or needs a floor for his shed. Some may have a cement slab already in place. Therefore, we offer the floor kit as an option.

Do I need any permits to build my shed?
This will vary by location. Please check with your local zoning department for information on permits.

    Overview

What's not to love about this beautiful Heritage DIY Shed Kit? It's not only pleasing to the eye, it is so functional too! Clear out the clutter in the garage, and neatly organize it in this storage shed. It only comes primed from the woodshop for shipping purposes, but that's really to your benefit! Pick out the perfect color, one that'll accent your house, and paint away! For a unique look, try using a main color and 2 accent colors, as pictured. Although it's a little more time consuming, you'll be happy you spent the extra time doing so. This shed kit brings the perfect cottage style charm to your yard!

    Constructed with Class

This DIY shed kit is crafted in the heart of Ohio's Amish County by expert Amish woodworkers. This means you get only the best when it comes to a quality, well constructed shed. The Amish craftsmen go the extra mile to ensure that your shed will last for years and years to come. By cutting a specialized notch into each wall stud, and then installing it on a 2x3" strongback nailer, the result is straighter and stronger walls. Top it off with double top plates which create very strong corners and stiff walls.

This Heritage Shed comes in a simple DIY shed kit. It comes partially assembled in panels from the woodworker, which makes assembly much easier. Simply follow the included instructions and you'll be good to go!

    Get Creative and Customize

The beauty of purchasing an Amish handcrafted storage shed is that you are able to customize it to fix your exact specifications. Choose from a multitude of sizes and find one that'll fit perfectly in that backyard nook. Additionally, choose to add transoms windows into the doors, flowerboxes onto the windows, and a cupola with weathervane on the roof. Although small add ons, they're what makes this shed so unique and cozy.
