The Barkman Furniture Collection is built in Ohio, and DutchCrafters has a longstanding relationship with this Amish furniture maker.
The owner himself has visited DutchCrafters headquarters in Sarasota many times, and employees from DutchCrafters have visited his shop in Ohio in turn. At these meetings, the latest Barkman designs are showcased, demonstrating strength, innovative designs and custom techniques used in fine woodworking.
Albert Barkman started learning the furniture business when he was sixteen years old. Once invested, he was all in, and for 15 years he built bedroom storage pieces for big companies like Arhaus, eventually moving on to start his own business and woodshop in 2004.
The makers of the Barkman Collection of wood furniture are dedicated to two things:
- Using finely developed woodworking techniques combined with state-of-the-art woodworking equipment to build furniture of the highest quality
- Building furniture that’s made strong enough to be handed down generation after generation
Albert Barkman seeks to create unique designs and focuses on useful features and functions for furniture. He makes it a point to listen to the customers needs and build furniture to fit those needs.
The process at this wood shop involves creating designs, building them and testing them, then finalizing the design to be the most durable, functional product they can offer.
Contemporary Amish Furniture
Among a number of furniture styles offered in this collection, you’ll find a good deal of contemporary Amish furniture and plenty of mid-century modern too. The Barkman Collection is one that shows Amish furniture is not limited to one style, but embraces many, with contemporary looks among them. You’ll find parings of wood and metal along with interesting shapes to create definition and clean lines.
A Variety of Wood Types
This collection offers a wide variety of wood types to choose from. All the colors are represented in logs of oak, cherry, brown maple, elm, tiger maple, walnut and hickory, along with rustic woods that showcase more markings, imperfections and knots. This wide variety helps you create just the look you envision for any room in the house.
