Mt. Eaton Collection woodshop owner Ray Yoder, Jr. says what he likes best about the business of crafting solid wood Amish furniture is the natural beauty and strength of fine hardwoods. He also enjoys offering customers the finished product—heirloom-quality furniture that is designed to order and built to last.
Ray and his family have owned and operated the woodshop since 1999, and the attraction always has been all about the wood—the way it looks and feels in his hands from beginning to completion of the design when he admires the finished product. Each one-of-a-kind piece of furniture is a testament to the natural beauty of the wood and to the artisan’s sharp attention to every detail. For a finishing touch of authenticity, master craftsmen inscribe their signatures on each piece they create.
“I’m willing to build anything the customer wants in furniture,” Yoder said. “My two sons are in the business, and they run the day-to-day operations. We’ve grown to 56 employees working in this 40,000-square-foot shop.”
The Mt. Eaton Collection offers a robust assortment of furniture pieces in a variety of styles, wood types and finishes—and that is just the beginning of the many options customers have to create the look they love. DutchCrafters knowledgeable furniture specialists are happy to assist throughout the design and ordering process.
Although it is not easy for artisans to choose a favorite piece of furniture to build, Ray says he especially enjoys building curios and hutches. Inspired by working with all kinds of hardwoods, he is partial to brown maple and cherry because “they’re easy on the equipment and they sand nice.”
Cherry and maple woods are also popular choices among customers.
Professional, courteous customer service and hassle-free ordering and shipping are all part of the Mount Eaton Collection experience.
