What’s Exciting about Shopping Urban Barnwood?
Urban Reclaimed Barnwood Furniture Collection offers an excellent way to preserve history within modern style furniture custom built just for you. Reclaiming and repurposing century-old barnwood gives new life to the character and stories waiting to be discovered inside woods salvaged from barns no longer used due to less farming in Ohio and Kentucky.
The story started with a coffee table an Amish woodworker built from reclaimed barnwood for his girlfriend, who is now his wife. She loved the coffee table’s vintage look and how reclaiming barnwood benefits the planet. Customers loved it, too. The popular trend led to the woodshop’s expansion. The 30,000-square-foot woodshop is still a family business where solid wood Amish furniture is handcrafted with pride and precise attention to every detail.
All furniture assembly and finishing processes are done in house, according to your specifications selected from a full spectrum of standard options. Customized pieces are also an option.
Process of Preparing Reclaimed Wood
Aging barns and buildings that are no longer used can either be restored close to their original state or disassembled piece by piece to salvage wood to be recycled. From there, the reclaimed lumber undergoes a cleaning and drying process. All the barn wood is inspected under a metal detector twice; nails are marked and removed. It is then kiln dried at 110 to 150 degrees to 7-percent moisture, exterminating any insects that may be in the wood. After this precise sanitizing process, the wood is ready to be crafted into stunning, modern furniture.
Embrace the vibrant personality of this Urban Reclaimed Barnwood Furniture and become part of its history. Each piece is unique and sure to make a statement in any room. Help us support the sustainability of our planet and reduce the global footprint with this stunning eco-friendly furniture.
