What’s Exciting about Shopping Urban Barnwood?

Urban Reclaimed Barnwood Furniture Collection offers an excellent way to preserve history within modern style furniture custom built just for you. Reclaiming and repurposing century-old barnwood gives new life to the character and stories waiting to be discovered inside woods salvaged from barns no longer used due to less farming in Ohio and Kentucky.

The story started with a coffee table an Amish woodworker built from reclaimed barnwood for his girlfriend, who is now his wife. She loved the coffee table’s vintage look and how reclaiming barnwood benefits the planet. Customers loved it, too. The popular trend led to the woodshop’s expansion. The 30,000-square-foot woodshop is still a family business where solid wood Amish furniture is handcrafted with pride and precise attention to every detail.

All furniture assembly and finishing processes are done in house, according to your specifications selected from a full spectrum of standard options. Customized pieces are also an option.

Process of Preparing Reclaimed Wood

Aging barns and buildings that are no longer used can either be restored close to their original state or disassembled piece by piece to salvage wood to be recycled. From there, the reclaimed lumber undergoes a cleaning and drying process. All the barn wood is inspected under a metal detector twice; nails are marked and removed. It is then kiln dried at 110 to 150 degrees to 7-percent moisture, exterminating any insects that may be in the wood. After this precise sanitizing process, the wood is ready to be crafted into stunning, modern furniture.

Embrace the vibrant personality of this Urban Reclaimed Barnwood Furniture and become part of its history. Each piece is unique and sure to make a statement in any room. Help us support the sustainability of our planet and reduce the global footprint with this stunning eco-friendly furniture.

The reality is, most of the furniture found on DutchCrafters is already handmade after you order it, making it more affordable than many people assume. Discover centuries-old craftsmanship with reclaimed barnwood dating 200 - 300 years. This statement piece will draw your family and friends together to relive the heritage of American barns. Beautifully designed & crafted with pride to give this solid wood new life. Experience the warmth created by weathered wood in your kitchen or dining room.

Available in a variety of sizes and options to accommodate your dining room space & design requirements. Start by selecting your size and table top style - glass or solid barnwood. For the glass, the Amish craftsmen use 1/2 inch tempered clear glass to add to the sturdiness and safety of this beautiful top.

Barn Wood Beauty

You can be assured that no two pieces of our reclaimed barn wood furniture are alike. They each bring their own story to tell, with different sun spots, markings, and nail holes. To create the look just right for your home, select one of several finishes to complete your table.

Like this table's history and character, but you'd like the nail holes filled? We can do that, too. Or you can choose to leave them open for the most authentic barn wood look. Barn wood tables not only look beautiful, but they contribute to a sustainable household by reusing wood versus throwing it away. Utilizing centuries-old reclaimed barnwood, this piece represents the 'slow' furniture movement perfectly.

About the Designer

Designer Chase Ryan of Austin, Texas, created the look for the Looking Glass 1869 Dining Table. He observed a barn being taken down and was inspired by the joinery, the technique, and the strength and texture of the barnwood, prompting him to put together a brand new look for dining that's truly unforgettable.
