Additional Information

The Amish furniture in this collection is made from reclaimed barn wood furniture that is over 100 years old.  Most of the barn wood is yellow pine wood but sometimes it will be hemlock wood or fir wood.  The barn lumber is sourced in the United States most of it locally in Pennsylvania near the Amish craftsman’s woodshop.

Barn wood furniture brings some American history and character into your home or business.  Imagine sitting at a dining room table handcrafted with 100-year-old wood from the American heartlands.  Your new barn wood furniture will surely become a conversation piece in your home or business as you reminiscence about American farmers and how they have helped to shape the United States.  These 18th century barns are transformed into heirloom furniture that will be enjoyed and appreciated by friends and family for centuries to come.

An Old Order Amish woodworker builds this reclaimed wood furniture by hand.  Amish furniture is known for its quality construction and attention to detail.  No two pieces of barn wood furniture will be identical.  Reclaimed barn wood will have naturally distressed features and characteristics such as nail holes, screw holes, worm holes, hairline cracks, paint in the grain, water marks and even carvings.  Some boards are more distressed than others and the nail holes can be filled by selecting this option on the product page. Rustic virgin lumber and distressing options on new wood are available for those that want more control over the vintage, weathered look.  Barn wood is not for everyone so we advise our customers to contact one of our Amish furniture specialists with questions.

This Amish woodworker builds furniture for the home but also specializes in volume commercial barn wood furniture for restaurants, hospitality furniture or design professionals.  Please call for information on our Trade Sales program. Custom furniture is available from new designs or changes to existing pieces.  Custom furniture design requests can be emailed to questions@dutchcrafters.com or call us at 1-866-272-6773.

Reclaimed barn wood furniture is also something that you can feel good about purchasing since it’s a sustainable, green product.  The barns are reclaimed and recycled into Amish furniture and built to last.  Choose from a variety of finish options included environmentally friendly tung oil.  We care about the earth at DutchCrafters as does our Amish woodworker from the Reclaimed Barn Wood Furniture Collection.  You will fall in love with the one-of-a-kind barn wood furniture in this collection!

How Much Does Custom Furniture Cost?

Handcrafted Amish Furniture represents a fairly affordable segment of the premium furniture market. Many people hear the words "custom furniture" and they cringe in fear of a runaway cost. The reality is, most of the furniture found on DutchCrafters is already handmade after you order it, making it more affordable than many people assume. The woodshops still have to draft new plans and charge for the extra material, labor, time, and resources used to create your heirloom-quality, customized masterpiece.
