J & R Bedroom Furniture Collection is one of DutchCrafters’ largest bedroom furniture collections.

In 1997, J & R Bedroom Collection became a partnership that is unique in several ways. Two talented woodworkers decided to be a team, each working from his own woodshop. William agreed to build beds in his woodshop, and Jerry agreed to build the bedroom storage pieces to accompany William’s beds in his woodshop, about 10 miles away.

Exchanging ideas, collaborating, and working together in the heart of Northern Indiana, William and Jerry have successfully grown J & R Bedroom Furniture Collection. They build the bedroom furniture in cohesive sets, which are beautifully finished together to ensure the bed and its storage piece match perfectly.

Another standout about J & R Bedroom Furniture Collection is its size and range of options, offering customers their choice of more than 25 complete sets!

They offer several variations within each bedroom set. Examples include multiple nightstand designs, several dresser sizes, and multiple layouts for wardrobes and chifforobes. Similarly, under-bed storage drawers can be added to most bed designs. New options continue to be created to maximize choices for you, the customer. The goal is always to build for you exactly what you want in bedroom furniture for your home.

Another special feature of J & R Bedroom Furniture Collection is Jerry and William’s ability to add hidden drawers and other special features. Here are examples of optional features offered:

  • Hidden drawer available in many nightstands
  • Slide-out water tray available in many nightstands
  • Hidden jewelry display that slides out from behind the mirror on many dressers
  • Pop-out secret rail available on many chests
  • Under-mount, soft-close drawer slides on storage pieces
  • Power strips added to nightstands for convenient bedside access to electronics
  • LED nightlight with touch switch on nightstands

For bedroom furniture that is beautiful, durable, and sustainable — with numerous options for customization — J & R Bedroom Furniture Collection offers 25 years of premier woodworking skill, creativity, and happy customers.

Your choices for your bedroom furniture include the finest quality solid wood choices: oak, cherry, brown maple, rough sawn brown maple, rustic rough sawn brown maple, rustic cherry, hickory, elm, and walnut.

Selecting your favorite finish is another empowering choice that highlights the wood’s grain, color, and sheen. Finish samples will be sent for you to consider, ask questions, and choose your favorite. Testimonials document our customers’ appreciation for the helpful guidance of our furniture specialists throughout their furniture selection, customization, ordering, and delivery process.

Amish Made is American Made

Artfully built in Northern Indiana with skill and pride, J & R Bedroom Furniture Collection is known for excellent craftsmanship and for strong, handsome, Amish furniture that is built to last for years to come.

Today, J & R Bedroom Furniture Collection woodshops create 75 or more heirloom-quality bedroom furniture pieces every day. The partnership between woodworkers is going strong 25 years since it began, and the business is successful. Jerry and William’s shared goal for J & R Bedroom Furniture Collection is twofold: building heirloom-quality Amish furniture and keeping customers happy. Both woodworkers enjoy growing J & R Bedroom Furniture Collection, a business built by families for families.

What Is the STURDY Act?

The STURDY (Stop Tip-overs of Unstable, Risky Dressers on Youth) Act, modified in April 2023 went into effect on September 1st, 2023. The new law only applies to specific bedroom clothing storage furniture.

What Does This Mean for Consumers?

Some furniture may require certain modifications to comply. These changes may include but are not limited to drawer interlock systems, counterweights, reduced drawer slide extensions, and in some cases minor changes to the case box dimensions.

What is an Interlock System?

Interlock systems are designed to allow only one drawer to open at a time, thereby reducing the risk of clothing storage furniture becoming unstable.

How are Counterweights Used?

Counterweights may be used on their own or in combination with other measures to help stabilize clothing storage furniture. They are installed on the interior of the product near the back, not altering or affecting the aesthetics of the furniture piece.

Other Measures Being Adopted to Meet Standards

When needed, furniture may be offered only with ¾ extension slides rather than full extension if required to meet the STURDAY Act testing standards. In addition, alterations in the actual drawer box and overall furniture dimensions may also be required to assist in meeting the testing standards.
