Additional Information

Choosing Dining Chairs

Keep in mind that your table type will affect how your dining chairs will fit. Pedestal tables and trestle tables will allow more room than leg tables since chairs have to fit between the table legs.

  • The average dining chair is 16”- 20” wide. Measure dining chairs at their widest point, and add 6” to ensure there is enough room between chairs for people to move comfortably. Depending on the style of the chair, the widest point may be on the seat or chair back.
  • Try to allow for 12 inches between the chair seat height and the table top, no matter the table height, to ensure everyone has enough room to sit comfortably.
  • Leave seven inches between the chair arm height and the table apron (bottom edge of the table).

Chair Heights

Chairs can be built in three heights: Standard, counter, and bar or gathering height.

Chair Height Image

  • Less formal than standard chairs, counter height chairs are 24” – 26” tall. Their added height creates the illusion of taking up less space.

Amish Livingston Contemporary Bar Stool

The Livingston Contemporary Bar Stool is available in counter or bar height.
  • Bar/gathering height chairs are 28”- 30” tall. They are ultra-cool and casual and fit well in smaller spaces.

Amish Harris Bar Stool

The Amish Harris Bar Stool can be built in counter or bar height.

Side and Arm Chairs

Arms add about 6” to the overall width of a dining chair. If space is limited, consider using armless dining chairs, or only use arm chairs at the head and foot of the table.

  • Side chairs take up less space visually and physically.
  • Arm chairs are often used at the head and foot of the table. They offer added comfort with a place to rest the arms.

Overview

A Crib for any Nursery

We're in love with this nursery collection. Defined by those thick slats and subtle, unexpected curves, the Rosewood Convertible Crib is a masterful combination of traditional American woodworking and on-trend mid-century modern style.

Underneath that versatile look is a frame that easily meets all federal safety standards for its class, and a body that can be easily transformed into a toddler bed and then a full size kids bed with the addition of the conversion rails listed as options. This crib will look at home in almost any nursery, and it'll do it for years and years to come - its design really is outstanding.

Built to Order

Every piece of handcrafted furniture at DutchCrafters Amish Furniture is built to order and then finished and sanded down by hand, giving it an incredibly glossy feel that no mass-produced piece can match. The inlaid designs add a unique touch to an already distinctive design, and their placement means that they'll remain a definitive part of the crib's look even after it's been transformed into a daybed or a bed.

Most importantly, every element is carefully constructed by dedicated Amish woodworkers - most of them parents themselves - with the aim of providing your family with comfort and peace of mind that comes from knowing that a person with a vested interest in safety and quality built your child's crib. This Amish made crib is available in your choice of solid wood and stain. Use the options above to create a design all your own, and if you run into any questions at all, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us - we would love to help you bring your ideal nursery to life in every last detail.
