Authentic and strong, the Arts and Crafts Furniture Collection is our most popular living room furniture collection.

So much of life goes on in our living rooms, the room for family to congregate and talk, sit and watch TV, nap, play games, work on laptops and much more. In this collection you’ll find exquisite furniture to keep up with the pace of your life, offering impeccable style and solid wood quality you can trust and admire to do your living room and your family justice.

This collection is rich with mission style chairs, recliners and sofas, several of them best sellers on our site. There are loveseats to cuddle in, footstools to comfort tired feet and lots of soothing rocking, swivel and gliding action.

A Family Business

This collection was launched in 2000 by an Amish husband and wife team. The husband, Alvin, learned about building furniture in his brother’s woodshop, making dining chairs. He moved on to develop his own specialty, making mission style sofas and chairs. He and his wife, their four children and 18 more employees work to produce this furniture, with his mother-in-law making the cushions. Each piece is completed on site, from start to finish. The fabric for cushions comes from another shop on his property, Heartland Fabrics, that he co-founded in 2005.

You’ll find fine craftsmanship in every piece of this collection. Frames feature mortise and tenon construction, a hallmark of fine woodworking that ensures the piece will last longer and perform better.

Arts and Crafts Furniture Styles

Many of the pieces in this collection fit the style of the Arts and Crafts movement. Arts and Crafts style emerged from a design movement that began in Britain in 1850. It spread widely and came to the United States to enjoy even more widespread popularity during 1910-1925. Arts and Crafts furniture style values quality craftsmanship and high function for each piece, something that’s much in keeping with Amish made furniture. Featuring simple clean lines and a solid, strong build, it is furniture you can rely on for decades to come. Though Arts and Crafts and Mission style furniture have some different roots, their looks are the same, and we use the term Mission on our site.

Along with mission and traditional styles, you’ll fine some mid century modern beauties that showcase interesting shapes and a simplicity that minimalistic rooms love.

Luxury Seating

There must be something supportive and special about living room chairs. They must exude comfort, offer support, and look inviting and warm. This collection provides all of these factors, offering recliners that ease you back and hold you there in comfort, with options to add a power recline with remote control. There are wall huggers with rich cushions and supportive arms, that save a little space in smaller living rooms or dens.

Wood Accent Tables

There are plenty of solid wood accent table options offered here. Select just the right handcrafted beauty to sit beside the sofa to host lamps, remotes, evening teacups and more.

Heartland Fabric

The upholstery options offered for this wood living room furniture are premium quality fabric and leather options from Heartland Fabric. There are a variety of patterns and solids to choose from, along with faux and genuine leathers to create just the right plush presentation.

Solid Wood

Only premium quality woods are considered for furniture in this collection and they are carefully chosen. Consider the rich shades or brown maple that’s often compared to cherry, but has a lower price tag. There’s rustic hickory wood for living room furniture, walnut wood with its exotic dark shades as well as oak wood that’s hailed as the hardwood that’s most often used in building American wood furniture.

Each piece from the Arts and Crafts Collection is wood furniture you can feel proud of. Not just for a few years, but for generations to come.

How Much Does Custom Furniture Cost?

Handcrafted Amish Furniture represents a fairly affordable segment of the premium furniture market. Many people hear the words "custom furniture" and they cringe in fear of a runaway cost. The reality is, most of the furniture found on DutchCrafters is already handmade after you order it, making it more affordable than many people assume. The woodshops still have to draft new plans and charge for the extra material, labor, time, and resources used to create your heirloom-quality, customized masterpiece.
